Siding Tips to Remember
1. Before
starting any siding project, check to make sure your exterior walls are insulated.
If they are not, have insulation blown in the walls
before siding.
2. Make sure your sider always allows for expansion when nailing each panel.
3. Always
check the siding every couple courses with a level.
4. Always caulk the corner of each piece of chanel that surrounds
each window.
5. At the end of each job, check tops of corners, windows,
and any area that may allow water to enter behind
the siding and possibly into your home.
Siding jobs can leak for years before being
discovered.
6. Always use a backer panel with a vapor barrier behind each siding panel.
7. Avoid certain
insulated backer boards.
We
recommend a water resistant DOW board which has the highest resistance rating in the industry.
8. House wraps are
great also and especially on the corners
of your home.
